It has been a BIG week for us, we had our New Owners Clinic and we are very  pleased to announce our support and sponsorship of The Newport News Green Foundation’s DIG IN EARTH DAY 5K! This is such an exciting event and working with such a great cause is something that really matters to us at Bowditch Ford. New Owners Clinic

On Wednesday, March 28, 2012 we were pleased to welcome some of new owners for an evening of information, food, fun, and prizes. We hope that this experience was a valuable tool for our new owners to learn about the dealership, the service process here at Bowditch Ford, and helped each customer learn a little more about their car. We also hope that all of big winners loved their great prizes like tickets to WWE, the Virginia Aquarium, and the grand prize of an IPOD Shuffle. Environmental Protection for Your Vehicle

Paint Protection – This service keeps the outside of your vehicle looking its best. This plan helps maintain your paint’s high gloss finish, eliminates the need for waxing your vehicle (saving you time and money), and guarantees against paint fading, oxidation, and damage that can be caused by acid rain, bird droppings, and tree sap.

Interior Protection- It does not matter if you have a fabric, vinyl or leather interior, we have a protection plan for you. Employee of the Week

We are happy to introduce you to Scott Firman, our Quicklane Manager. Scott has been running the Quicklane for the past two years. Scott graduated from Poquoson High School and has over 15 years of automotive experience. Scott loves working at the Quicklane since he gets to deal with all makes and models of vehicles. One of his favorite parts of his job is making sure that customers understand the repairs needed on their vehicle and knowing that he is sending his customers back on the road with a vehicle that is repaired properly. In Scott’s spare time he loves to garden, watch NASCAR (rooting for the Ford Racing Team of course), and considers himself a Redskin Fanatic! The 2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid, backed by more than 200 patents, leads the pack in city fuel economy and customer payback.
The Fusion Hybrid uses a powertrain system that combines the best attributes of the gasoline engine and electric battery-driven motors to deliver an optimal experience for the customer in terms of driving performance and fuel economy, which is best-in-class 41 mpg city and 36 mpg highway.
The 41 mpg city rating is 10 mpg better than the Toyota Camry Hybrid.
The propulsion system transitions between gas and electric power efficiently and seamlessly. Ford Fusion Hybrid can operate up to 47 mph in pure electric mode, approximately twice as fast as some competitors. Plus, the city driving range on a single tank of gas is more than 700 miles.
The 2.5-liter Atkinson-Cycle Hybrid four-cylinder powertrain combines with the electric motor to generate a 191 net horsepower rating, delivering responsive power.
This leading-edge technology is paying off for customers. Edmunds.com lists the Ford Fusion Hybrid as a class leader for best monthly fuel cost in the publication’s annual best and worst monthly fuel cost estimates analysis.
“The 2012 Fusion Hybrid offers a combination of best-in-class city fuel economy and technology the competition can’t match,” said Jonathan Richards, Ford Fusion Hybrid marketing manager. “While other competitors left the market, the Ford Fusion Hybrid proves it’s the smart choice for customers interested in what this type of vehicle has to offer.”

Quality
The 2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid builds on the company’s 10 years of experience with hybrid technologies. The 2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid is a second-generation full hybrid system, with battery technology that provides 20 percent more power than the first-generation system. To achieve outstanding fuel economy, Ford’s Powersplit technology system uses two motors and a continuously variable transmission that uses the most efficient points of the engine.
By doing this, the energy flow between the battery and the engine is optimized to drive the wheels and achieve a high fuel efficiency for all operation modes.
Additional ways in which Ford hybrids achieve fuel economy improvements include:
  • Modifying components like inverters, to increase efficiency of electric components to more than 90 percent
  • An electric compressor is used for climate control systems, to optimize energy use
  • Ford Fusion Hybrid has an added boost converter on the battery, which instantaneously provides power when needed – for acceleration – but doesn’t carry this power in the battery at all times, improving overall fuel efficiency
Green
The eco-friendly story of the 2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid isn’t limited to the powertrain. Earth-friendly seating fabric in the Fusion Hybrid is made from 85 percent post-industrial materials – polyester fibers that would otherwise have ended up in landfills.
When the brakes are applied in a conventional vehicle, kinetic energy is lost to heat due to friction. During braking in the Fusion Hybrid, the regenerative braking system captures 94 percent of this energy that is normally lost and sends it back to the battery pack to be stored for later use. Not only is regenerative braking efficient, but it helps minimize wear on the brake pads, lowering the cost of maintenance.

Safe
The 2012 Ford Fusion offers a suite of innovative safety technologies and, like the 2011 Fusion, is expected to earn a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (for models built after February 2011).
To earn a Top Safety Pick, a vehicle must receive a rating of “good” in offset frontal-, side- and rear-impact crash tests and roof strength evaluations, as well as offer electronic stability control. AdvanceTrac® electronic stability control is standard on every Fusion.

Smart
Ford offers drivers a way to be connected to the hybrid driving experience thanks to SmartGauge™ with EcoGuide, a unique instrument cluster execution that helps coach owners to optimize performance of their hybrid.
SmartGauge with EcoGuide features two high-resolution, full-color LCD screens on either side of the analog speedometer that can be configured to show different levels of information, including fuel and battery power levels, and average and instant miles per gallon. EcoGuide uses a multilayered approach to coach the driver to maximum fuel efficiency.
A tutorial mode built into the display helps the driver learn about the instrument cluster and the Hybrid in a whimsical way that does not overpower. Technical enthusiasts love the detailed gauges that will help them learn to become more efficient in their driving. Everyday drivers love the system’s efficiency leaves, a feature that “grows” leaves and vines on-screen to reward customers for efficient driving.
Drivers can choose one of four data screens to display the desired level of information during their drive. These include:
  • Inform: Fuel level and battery charge status
  • Enlighten: Also displays electric vehicle mode indicator and tachometer
  • Engage: Also displays engine output power and battery output power
  • Empower: Also displays power to wheels, engine pull-up threshold and accessory power consumption
All levels can show instant fuel economy, fuel economy history, odometer, engine coolant temperature, the gear the car is in, and trip data (trip fuel economy, time-elapsed fuel economy and miles to empty). The engine coolant temperature indicator turns green when engine conditions are warm enough to allow engine pull-down

Bowditch’s Employee of the Week

We are pleased to introduce you to Harry Carraway, our Bowditch Collision Repair Manager. Harry is a Peninsula local who graduated from York High and CNU. Harry has over 20 years of collision repair experience and loves helping our customers get back into their vehicles after a dent or scratch to major collision repair. Harry has been married for ten years and has two grandchildren. In Harry’s spare time he loves to mountain bike and volunteer with the Eastern Virginia Mountain Biking Association. The King’s Way of Selling you the Perfect Vehicle!

You have done the research and found the perfect Ford for you. When you deal with Bowditch Ford, we do things a little differently; this is why you have made us your Hampton Roads Ford King. We do not want you to have any surprises when the time comes to close the deal so we are giving you the answers to the most important questions you can ask before getting behind the wheel of your new Ford from Bowditch.


What other fees will I be charged?

Some of the fees you will be paying are tax, title, licensing, and documentation fees.


Are there any aftermarket parts or “add ons” on the vehicle?

That depends on the vehicle that you want, we will be upfront and honest with you about any add ons and will offer you a choice of aftermarket products to make sure that you are getting the best the King has to offer and the vehicle that you WANT!


How many miles are on the car?
This also depends on the vehicle you are looking at, but we will make sure that you know everything you can about the new or used car that you are interested in before we even start any paperwork with you. 



Your Top Service Questions Answered!

What certifications do your mechanics have?

All of our mechanics are Ford and ASE certified. We hold ourselves to providing you the best quality workmanship that you can get on any vehicle. That is part of the Genuine Ford service experience.


How much does a State inspection cost?

If you purchased your vehicle from us you get FREE State inspections for the life of your vehicle! That is just one more great reason to purchase a new or used car from Bowditch Ford. For all vehicles not purchased from us the cost is $16.


Can I choose new or used parts?

We only use Original Manufactures Equipment. This means that you are always getting Genuine Ford Parts whenever you visit us for service.


Can I get an itemized invoice and a detailed explanation of the work done?

Every time you bring your vehicle to any of our locations for service work you will get an itemized invoice and our all of Service personnel are more than happy to explain every aspect of your repair to you.


Will I get a courtesy vehicle?

We do not provide courtesy vehicles but we do offer a courtesy shuttle service. We also have Enterprise Rent a Car onsite. Our shuttles run from 7:30AM to 5:00PM.  We can get you where you need to be and back to pick up your vehicle during these hours. Our shuttles do run on a first come first served basis so please plan accordingly. If you have any questions about our shuttle service do not hesitate to give us a call. What is the warranty on the work performed?

All of our work comes with a standard 12 month or 12,000 mile warranty. If you have any questions about this ask your Service Advisor. Other services performed may have additional warranties, such as engine and transmission replacements, new tire purchases, and battery replacements.


What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Cash, and Checks. Unfortunately we do not accept American Express or Discover.




Bowditch Ford’s Featured Employee

We would like to introduce you to Dean Hollar our new Service Manager. Dean comes to us with over 32 years of Ford experience. He is from the Harrisonburg, VA area. He has four children, 3 boys, and 1 girl and has been married for nine years.
